@User it would still be the container client, but it would set host networking rules. All we changed in this iteration was for the container to set the container interface, rather than the host interface. The issue, as @User is mentioning, is that you need some additional host modules for the client to work properly. So, if you use the old docker compose, which mounts the host libraries to the container, then it will be setting the host interface correctly from inside the container.
