I get that, it was mostly user error. The script wouldn't run as sudo so I downloaded it and ran it, that works, but since I didn't pipe the version into the install script (thinking I could install netclient and use it to join manually) it defaults to latest which is 0.9.4

Moving too fast, not looking closely enough. I often will wget a script then run it just so I can look through the script or handle edge case errors. The install script requires

VERSION=v0.11.1

otherwise it defaults to downloading https://github.com/gravitl/netmaker/releases/download/v0.9.4/(release) Ultimately it was me hacking at it because the command didn't work out of the box. If the instructions mention

sudo su

before running the command everything works perfectly.

hmmm, I don't usually use the scripts ... I download the correct binary directly from the releases page https://github.com/gravitl/netmaker/releases

ok @User you said- 'In version v0.11.0 netclient is no longer installed to /etc/netclient, it is installed to /sbin/' So I downloaded (on Synology) into /sbin/ then executed

cd sbin/netclient
sudo ./netclient join -t <token>

And got-

sudo: ./netclient: command not found

How do I get this fixed please?

ok I used mkdir sbin/netclient && curl -L https://github.com/gravitl/netmaker/releases/v0.11.1/download/netclient --output /sbin/netclient/netclient this seems to be correct for Synology

and the binary will try to install to/sbin by having a netclient directory there is going to mess things up.

You should just download netclient to your home dir or downloads or /tmp

ok still no go- ./netclient: line 1: Not: command not found looks like the command does find the binary, but the binary has a command 'Not' and this is causing issues

ok now we are making progress- /etc/netclient# du -ah netclient = 4k So it was not correct
