Ah ha! I dug through the code, and where it's defined.
    "MQAdminPassword string yaml:"mqadminpassword"

So, I've noticed kind of a discrepancy in the Quick Install doc

During most of the process, the folder when you put your stuff isn't relevant

Except when it comes to Mosquitto, then it's like it was always set in the /root folder

and that's not just in the tutorial, but also in the docker-compose.yml given

F hell, my name provider is redirecting to IPv6 by default.

Ah shit, Namesheap propagated some random AAAA record with my domain name on it because of the way they handle wildcards. God damnit, they told me wildcards were can of worms, and I didn't listen.

Welp, it worked with the github script. Strangely, mosquitto.conf and that other file existed as folders in the /root folder.

Hey guys I am installing Netmaker without my own domain using: wget -qO - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gravitl/netmaker/master/scripts/nm-quick.sh | sudo bash The installation keeps getting hung up at the “testing Traefik setup” portion. I’m checking the docker logs for Traefik and it’s showing that it’s unable to pull the Let’s Encrypt Cert for the nip.io domain it is temporarily assigning to me.

In https://docs.netmaker.org/quick-start.html, why are some of the files being installed in the
    /root
directory? Additionally, why does the command
    sed -i "s/REPLACE_MQ_ADMIN_PASSWORD/$MQ_ADMIN_PASSWORD/g" /root/docker-compose.yml
use a Docker Compose file in the
    /root
directory which I don't think is ever created, instead of the one we've been configuring up to this point, which does have an
    MQ_REPLACE_ADMIN_PASSWORD
    that is never replaced?

I fixed it by changing the bind mounts in the Docker Compose File New question, is it possible to have a setup that doesn't rely on Traefik? I already have a Caddy server that routes traffic to other services running on the instance, and both of them want to occupy port 443

Since Netmaker is based on Wireguard, is it a good idea to connect through the official Wireguard client, instead of through the Netcat CLI?

The advantage of using netmaker over pure wireguard is the management of the network. As peers enter or leave the network the clients peers list is updated. Similarly if the attributes of another peer, say endpoint or listenport, or the network are changed , your client is updated. These would all be manual updates with pure wireguard

With uses, is that "How many devices can use this key" or "How many times a device can connect using this key"?

How many devices can use this key. the uses is decremented by one everytime a device joins with a key

I agree the netclient would be best to use to minimize update hassles. Yet the windows netclient seems to only want to use a key in the UI. I wonder why User/Pass was not set up in that - or am I missing something in the client UI? The key also has a max uses, which I assume is a means to force key rotation. So a one key per user set for like 30 uses - is that a "normal" process people follow vs the external client file they have to manually import into the WG app?

the netclient gui was developed before we had user sign-in joining enabled. The team is currently working on a better gui which will include that and more functionality in the coming month or 2

Hey all, I am trying to do a dockerless install on my machine and using Nginx for reverse proxying. I am following the Advanced Installation: Linux Install without Docker. I get stuck at the step where I have to set up mosquitto. It feels like the documentation is not exactly correct. First it was missing the password in the configuration, after that I get stuck on the certificates. It tells me I should copy the certificates from /etc/netmaker but there are no certificates there. If do not specify the certificates in the Mosquitto configuration, netmaker succesfully connects Mosquitto, but still does not generate any certificates. I have NOT yet set up the UI. Am I missing a step or is the documentation incomplete? My next step would be to generate my own certificates and put them in the /etc/netmaker folder manually, but it seems like the documentation implies that netmaker should generate it's own certs.

Does anyone use NPM and have Netmaker behind it? I was wanting to see if I could either just use a self signed cert without forwarding the ssl port and only forward the WG port? Or use NPM for the SSL part for the webgui and then also forward the port for WG

Is 0.17.0 being explictly treated as a pre-release or only that because it contains a large amount of breaking changes?

I got excited when I saw this pre-release and noticed the switched back to Caddy, but I'm in the same boat as I was with the previous release after a few hours. I have two external docker hosts that run caddy to handle wildcard subdomains, and I've struggled so much to get netmaker running on them.
